About this quiz
Pin Drop turns the map quiz into a game of aim. Each round names a capital or a country, and you have forty-five seconds to turn the globe, zoom in and tap where you think it is. You can move the pin as often as you like before you confirm. Then an arc flies from your pin to the real place and shows how many kilometres you were off.
Scoring is all about distance. A perfect round is worth 150 points: drop your pin anywhere inside the country, or within 20 km of the capital. Points then fall smoothly with distance, so a pin 1,200 km away still earns about 55. Anything within 200 km counts as on target. There is no speed bonus, so take the time you need to look closely.
Easy mode asks mostly for whole countries and saves the smallest states for their capital. Hard mode asks mostly for capitals, where only a sharp pin scores well. Pick a region to practise one continent, or the Arab World, the Gulf or the Maghreb. Morocco is drawn with its full territory, and after every round the fact card shows the country’s name in Arabic and English, its capital and its currency.
